World of Warcraft Guide Gets You to 70 Faster than Anyone

Article by Eustacia Vye

There is something gratifying about being level 1 and getting to level 2 in, say, a few minutes. Am I right?

As the game goes on, however, leveling becomes harder, organization of quests becomes more difficult (though it can be fun), and frustration runs rampant. I prefer to solo, and I got to a point with my 23 mage when all the quests were far apart, and leveling seemed like a monumental task. I copped out.

With the new edition of Burning Crusade, I just couldn’t help but jump on board with a new blood elf and dranei (shaman, of course). But after level 20, venturing into Night Elf lands, the focus dissipated. And then I came upon Brian Kopp’s 1-70 Alliance guide, after my husband brought it home, sheepishly apologizing for the purchase. But it was worth every penny.

The guide tells you step-by-step what to do when, at every level. All the planning of when to do each quest, where to go, and how to efficiently manage your time is already done. He gives coordinates for every location, both of acceptance of quests and turning in of quests, and gives great advice you would never know. For example, he’ll tell you which quests to skip because the travel time/trouble/XP isn’t worth it. He’ll give suggestions of off-road routes to take so you don’t get beaten down by mobs. And often he’ll tell you to pick up a certain item because you will need it later for a quest, saving you time by not having to make a return trip.

Most importantly, it makes the game FUN. It can be very frustrating to feel like you’re in a rut, whether in actual reality or virtual, and as I continue using the guide, as my husband does with his 53 warlock and my stepson with his 63 hunter, I always know that I’m moving forward and up in the most efficient manner. Sometimes we’ll join in on another family member’s quest, helping to “navigate” the player through quests.

These aren’t the only tips he gives. Kopp also has a page for each class, stating his opinion for the best talent point expenditure and strategies. He prefers a night elf hunter and the guide is set up mostly as that character, but he has each starting region mapped out (stormwind, ironforge) and a special new section for getting a dranei shaman to level 20. He then explains where next to go on the guide to follow the game.

Following a night elf hunter as a human mage can be difficult at times, but for the most part, everything works for every class and character. A couple of quests I found to be either non-existent or way too hard, but he also has a free update on his website if you buy the guide.

And as for Brian Kopp himself, he’s leveled many and many a character to level 70, just for fun. This is the effect of hours of WoW fooling around, and the extensive knowledge he has gained from it.
