World of Warcraft – Guild Types Found in Azeroth (2 of 5)

The second type of guild that can be found in World of Warcraft and most other MMO games is the Player vs. Player Guild.

Player versus Player guilds are also known as PvP guilds. PvP guilds concentrate and specialize in combating other player characters. Some gaming systems provide battlefields, arenas, and other locations in which you can hunt the most elusive prey in any gaming system.

I have found that most, but not all, PvP guilds in a game that is not strictly PvP tend to be side guilds created by larger guilds.

PvP is not your average kill the mob move on to the next kind of environment. When you are hunting other players you will find that they do not conform to the natural artificial intelligence of the game and are much more dangerous than game controlled adversaries.

PvP guilds tend to be populated by experienced players who are very comfortable with the PvP aspect of combat. More often than not the characters in these guilds are supported their higher level characters which usually are not in the PvP guild. This is commonly known as “Twinking” and is defined as giving a character items that they could not attain on their own at their present level.

The PvP guild can have some very strict rules about playing the character in situations other than PvP as well many others. Unless you are an experienced gamer, I would advise against making this type of guild on your first attempt at building a guild from scratch.
