As of this writing, three expansions are available for World of Warcraft (WoW). They are World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, and World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. Of course, you can continue to play WoW without the expansion packs, but if you want to go past level 60 and get into the newer areas then you do need to get the expansion packs.
