Article by Winford Marchetti

I have to admit Druid is my favorite class in World of Warcraft out of the 10 available classes to choose from. So, out of the love for the class I decided to write a short wow druid guides that will provide some very basic information to help new Druid players.

Anyway, the point of this WoW guide is to provide some general information on Druid to help new players decided whether Druid is the right class for them, and not an advance Druid tactics guide. So here is what you can except out of this guide: I’m going to cover all four of the main Shapeshifting form that Druid has and the role that is associated with each form.

Druid Overview and Roles

Druids are probably the most versatile class in World of Warcraft and they are literally able to fit into any role or playing style with maybe the exception of something like the Hunter class. And the biggest factor that makes Druid such a versatile class is due to their ability to Shapeshift in to various of different forms.

There are 4 main forms that Druids can Shapeshift into; Cat form and Bear form can be access by all Druids but Moonkin and Tree of Life form is a bit special which I’ll explain later. However, apart from the 4 primary forms there are 4 more utility forms that all Druid have access to and they are Flight, Travel ground, Travel Water, and Swift Flight form. Anyway below I’m going to go talk about the 4 primary Druid forms a little bit more in-depth.

Cat Form Druids – As a Cat Druid you’ll have many skills that allow you to deal a massive amount of close up melee damages to your opponents. One of the special perk while you’re in cat form is that you’ll be able to ambush your target from their back with stealth. And as a result of that many player refer to Cat form Druid as Rogue Druids.

Bear Form Druids – As a bear Druid you’ll have more hit point as well as many abilities that increases your survivability and armor defense. So because of that Bear Druids makes great tanks for raids and dungeons. One of the downside to playing a Bear form Druid is that they use the rage system just like Warriors in World of Warcraft. This means that the first instance that you shapeshift into bear form your rage will be at zero, and you won’t be able to use most of your abilities.

Moonkin Form Druids – Different from Bear and Cat form, Moonkin form is an unique form which requires your Druid to be specialized in the Balance spec of the talent tree in order to have access to this form. In Moonking form you’ll be able to take less damage, cast spell faster, and increase your spell damages. Hence making Moonkin Druid the an ideal class for the magical damage dealing role.

Tree of Life Form Druids – Three of Life Form is also another special form that can only be accessed if your Druid specializes in the restoration branch of your talent tree. One thing to note about the Tree of Life form is that unlike the previous three forms, Tree of Life form is only lasts for 31 second. However, Tree of Life form is great for the healing role because once activated all your Druid healing spell will be enhanced with in that 31 seconds.
