Many people play World of Warcraft, and it seems that no matter how long you’ve played, it’s always a struggle to maintain a decent amount of gold banked. There’s always some new must have gadget or gismo that you will empty your toon’s pockets for. Especially now that Cataclysm is about to be released, there are bound to be lots of new and exciting items, abilities, and gear which will be essential to being a top player. So, it’s time to spend some time devoted to banking some serious gold!
There are multiple strategies to consider when trying to make some gold. One of the simplest to do, in terms of skill, but one of the most time-consuming, is to have gathering professions such as herbalism, skinning, and mining. If you are already level 80 and you have the fast mounts, it isn’t hard to level the gathering professions, it just takes some time. The downside of this method, especially for herbalism and mining, is that there can be lots of competition from other players. While the competition can be a minor annoyance, if you play on a PVP server, it could mean a quick death if you are caught unaware while gathering.
A method for making gold which many people don’t consider is questing! A lot of times questing can be very time consuming and undesireable, but if you opt to do daily quests, you can make several hundred gold per day with just a few hours of doing daily quests. The biggest downside of this method is that many daily quests are spread out. You can do a maximum of 25 daily quests a day, but you will find, at maximum, five to six dailies at one location. The time it takes to travel between the daily quest locations can be frustrating in itself.
Another gold making strategy is to try and play the auctionhouse. This strategy isn’t very time consuming, and doesn’t require a great deal of skill, but it is very often unreliable. The market may be great one day, and terrible the next. If you play your cards right and luck is on your side, you can make gold pretty fast.
