One way to use the Auction House to make lots of fast gold is to sell the various forms of cloth. Cloth is used for bandages, tradeskills, and people usually need an abundance of it. It doesn’t matter what level you are because even low level cloths sell well, especially Mageweave Cloth, which generally sells higher than all of the cloths because it is the least farmed.
Generally the best place to farm cloth is running instances, as cloth has an increased drop rate inside instances.
Linen Cloth – If you’re Alliance, I would recommend running Deadmines to obtain Linen Cloth. If you’re Horde, I would recommend running Ragefire Chasm. If you are not able to run the instances by yourself, low level zones such as Westfall (Alliance) and The Barrens (Horde) have many mobs that drop cloth as well. The average price for Linen Cloth is 2 silver per cloth and 40 silver per stack. However, prices fluctuate and it could be higher or lower, depending on the demand on your server.
Wool Cloth – Stockades is the best instance to farm Wool Cloth. It’s very easy to clear and the mobs drop a ton of Wool Cloth. Unfortunately, it’s in Stormwind and that makes it a bit tougher to reach as Horde. If you’re unable to farm instances, you can try farming the undead in Duskwood on Raven Hill as Alliance or you can try Thistlefur Hold in Ashenvale, north of Astranaar, if you are Horde. The average price for Wool Cloth is 5 silver per cloth and 1 gold per stack.
Silk Cloth – The best instances to farm Silk Cloth are the Scarlet Monastery instances. Scarlet Monastery is easier to get to as Horde, but you are able to easily access this instance as Alliance. If you’re unable to farm Scarlet Monastary, you can go to Stormgarde in Arathi Highlands to farm Silk Cloth as both Horde and Alliance. The average price for Silk Cloth is 3 silver and 50 copper per cloth and 70 silver per stack.
Mageweave Cloth – The best instance to farm Mageweave Cloth is Zul’Farrak in Tanaris for both Horde and Alliance. For players unable to farm instances, you can easily obtain Mageweave Cloth from the pirates and ogres in Tanaris. The average price of Mageweave Cloth is 19 silver and 50 copper per cloth and 4 gold per stack. Mageweave Cloth can sell as high as 10 gold per stack if the supply is low enough.
Runecloth – Runecloth is easily obtained by killing mobs in both Western and Eastern Plaguelands. However, if you are able to run the level 60 instances, you can run Stratholme, Scholomance, or Dire Maul to obtain Runecloth. The average price for Runecloth is 12 silver and 50 copper per cloth and 2 gold and 50 silver per stack.
Netherweave Cloth – Netherweave Cloth drops everywhere throughout the Outlands. Shadowmoon Valley is probably the best place to farm the cloth. If you’re Aldor, kill the demons at Legion Hold. They can drop Fel Armaments and marks that can be used to raise your reputation. If you’re Scryer, kill the demon hunters on top of the Black Temple area in the Ruins of Karabor. They will drop Arcane Tomes as well as signets that can be used to raise your reputation. The average price of Netherweave Cloth is 14 silver per cloth and 2 gold and 80 silver a stack.
