World of Warcraft Raid and Instance Guide – How to Kill Kologarn in Ulduar
By using a World of Warcraft raid and instance guide, anyone can learn how to kill any boss in the high and low end content of the game. When I was having trouble finding raid groups because I was playing a tank and didn’t know what to do, I started looking for a raid and instance guide to use in World of Warcraft. Several weeks later, everyone was looking for me to tank in their raids because I have learned everything that was to learn about any instances. My first major success was killing Kologarn in Ulduar. This is the strategy I learned from the World of Warcraft raid and instance guide I used.
There are 3 entities which can be attacked in this encounter. Kologarn himself, his Right Arm which will be on the left as you look at him, and his Left Arm which will be on the right as you face him. I’ve learned from the World of Warcraft raid and instance guide that you need a tank to always stay in range to take Kologarns hit, else he will use a raid wide attack which usually means a wipe.
The Right Arm is the most important element here as the World of Warcraft raid and instance guide put extra emphasis on this. He will grab a random raid member with it and deal 3000 damage per second to him. The way to avoid this is by concentrating DPS on that arm. Once the arm is destroyed, the DPS can switch to Kologarn himself. When the Arm respawns, DPS needs to change back to it and destroy it again. Its health is subtracted from Kologarn health pool so by killing the arm you damage the boss himself.
A few adds will spawn which should be picked up and killed by an off-tank. They have relatively low HP but it is better to assign an AoE DPS to assist the off-tank. You need to do this because Kologarn will periodically put an 25% armor debuff on the tank which stacks. When the tank has two stacks of the debuff, he needs to get away from Kologarn and the off-tank needs to take over until the debuff fades from the main tank.
The Left Arm will periodically swipe the raid dealing a decent amount of Nature damage, which of course, can be mitigated by using a Nature resisting aura. This arm can be killed just like the Right Arm, so if you are more comfortable doing that it will be no problem.
Another thing to watch out for is the eye beams that Kologarn fires. They are quite painful so the targeted member must move away from the raid as the beams hit everyone they come across.
All in all this is a fairly easy encounter if you know what to do. The World of Warcraft raid and instance guide insisted on killing the Right Arm before anything else, after a few runs I could see why. If I were to tank this boss without knowing what he could do then I would’ve failed so many times, but I didn’t thanks to the World of Warcraft raid and instance guide.
