Whether you’re brand new to World of Warcraft or you’re an old hand, there are several Expansion Packs that you may want to explore. Each is full of great content for players of all levels, and you’ll be sure to find a few that you’ll love.
Wrath of the Lich King
Almost four years after the initial release of World of Warcraft, Blizzard has announced that it is releasing a new version of the game. The Wrath of the Lich King is due to arrive in late September.
Although this is not a complete overhaul of the game, it does introduce several new zones and regions. It also features new challenges, quests, and player-versus-player (PvP) battlegrounds. It is the second expansion pack for World of Warcraft. Unlike its predecessor, The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King is not a full-blown expansion; rather, it is a sequel.
Wrath of the Lich King has three new raid dungeons. These are designed for groups of 10 to 25 players. The challenge in these dungeons ramps up as the number of players increases.
Cataclysm
Whether you’re new to WoW or an old hand, Cataclysm is a breath of fresh air for you. It’s packed with new features and new talent options. Its storyline follows the return of Deathwing, a legendary dragon that was banished from Azeroth during the Warcraft II era. It’s now tearing through the dimensional barrier in Azeroth, causing worldwide disaster.
In addition to introducing a new raid, Cataclysm also increased the level cap of the game. Players can now reach a max level of 85. Previously, the maximum level was 80. This means you have more choices when it comes to characters you create.
The game also introduced two new races, the goblins and the worgen. The goblins and worgen are part of the Horde and Alliance factions, respectively.
Burning Crusade
Several of the new features in The Burning Crusade include the introduction of two new races, Blood Elves and Draenei. In addition, the Burning Crusade also introduces a new class, the Paladin. Until now, this class was only available to the Horde and Alliance.
Another notable feature of The Burning Crusade is the addition of the Arena PvP system. Players can queue for matches in 2v2, 3v3, or 5v5 formats. These are a little different than most WoW matchmaking systems. These are online only events. In addition, players can earn rewards for participating.
The Burning Crusade also introduced new mechanics and storylines. Mostly, the expansion focused on the Dark Portal, which is located in Outland. The zone is bustling with activity.
Another feature of The Burning Crusade was the level cap. It was raised to 80. This allowed players to unlock more powerful gear. The game was designed to encourage players to use multiple characters of various races.
Legion
Compared to its predecessor, Warlords of Draenor, Legion introduces two new races: Highmountain Tauren and Lightforged Draenei. It also includes a new deathmatch battle system, which lets players form teams of five. These heroes must defeat the Legion to prevent the demons from engulfing Azeroth.
This expansion pack will also introduce two versions of classes, so players will have a choice of classes. It will also include new PvP abilities, such as the ability to use honor points to gain new abilities. It will also introduce a separate PvP mode. This will allow players to compete in a separate arena without having to leave the main game.
It will also include a new honor system, which will reduce the importance of gear in PvP combat. It will also remove PvP gems and enchantments, and it will disallow set bonuses.
Warlords of Draenor
Adding an extra 10 levels and a new raid difficulty, the Warlords of Draenor World of Warcraft expansion pack takes players back to an old continent of Draenor. It also introduces the Draenor Perks bonus system, which rewards players as they level up with bonuses that boost key abilities.
Besides the new quests and raids, the Warlords of Draenor expansion pack also includes many improvements. There are new character models, facial expressions, and animations. Additionally, Warcraft has added new gear and a pet battle system that works well with the new content.
As you advance through the quests, you will be able to purchase Draenor Perks, which boost key abilities and remove cooldowns on key abilities. At even-numbered levels, you can receive permanent Draenor Perks bonuses.
